Recently, my family came to visit me in Dubai.
Since it was their first time in the city, I spent a lot of time thinking about where to take them. After the trip, they kept saying, “This itinerary was perfect,” which honestly made all the planning worth it. It turned out to be a well-balanced day with sightseeing, relaxation, and great food, so I wanted to share it here.

We began the day in Old Dubai, and it ended up being the perfect introduction to the city. For first-time visitors, this area often leaves a stronger impression than the modern skyline.
We walked through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, taking our time to look at the traditional architecture, then crossed Dubai Creek by abra. That simple boat ride was a big hit with everyone. At one point, someone said, “This feels like the real Dubai,” which felt exactly right for the start of the trip.

After exploring Old Dubai, we headed to Dubai Mall. It’s an easy transition from the morning, and during the hotter hours of the day, being indoors makes everything much more comfortable for a family outing.
After lunch, we were walking around the second floor when something immediately caught our attention. Across from Galeries Lafayette, a large and eye-catching exterior façade stood out from the typical mall stores. Naturally, we slowed down to take a closer look. That’s how we ended up at Arte Museum Dubai.
Once inside, the space was filled with immersive digital art centered around the theme of eternal nature. Each room had a completely different atmosphere — Ocean, Flower, Waterfall, Romantic Thunder — and the cool, calm environment made it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the experience. The space was beautiful, relaxing, and incredibly photogenic. The staff were also very friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable.
Some of my family members didn’t have high expectations for digital art, but their opinions changed quickly. When we reached the Garden room and saw the Orsay Museum unfold within the space, everyone stopped and watched for a while. It felt immersive in a way we didn’t expect. In fact, my mother’s favorite photo from the entire trip was taken right there.

In the evening, we headed to Jumeirah for dinner at SUSHISAMBA. From the atmosphere to the views, it felt like the perfect way to end the day. The food was excellent, and enjoying dinner with Dubai’s night scenery in the background made everything feel complete.
As we wrapped up the night, my family kept saying how much they loved the day. Hearing that was the most rewarding part for me, especially after all the planning.
Instead of rushing through too many attractions, this itinerary focused on a comfortable rhythm — exploring, relaxing, enjoying, and ending the day with a great meal.
The combination of Old Dubai, Dubai Mall with Arte Museum, and SUSHISAMBA in Jumeirah worked incredibly well for first-time visitors, especially for a family trip.
If your family or close friends are visiting Dubai for the first time, this route is one I would confidently recommend.
